Lasek is similar to Prk, but in this procedure the corneal epithelium is lifted with aid of alcohol and placed back after the laser ablation is complete. A contact lens is placed in the patient's eye. After 3-4 days, the contact lens is removed when the dead epitelium cells are regenerated.

This procedure is preffered in case of thin corneas.
