What happens if I blink my eye during the operation?
It is impossible to blink your eye because of a special tool called "eyelid speculum" is used in order to prevent eyelids to close. Patients usually do not feel the speculum that much, or sometimes they do not feel it at all.
How much can Myopia be downgraded?
Myopia from -1 to -12, astigmatism and hypermetropia upto +5 can be downgraded.
Who is eligible for laser treatment?
Patients 18 years of age or older are eilgible for the laser treatment. For patients between 18 and 21 years old, it must be justified that the dioptry is stable.
What happens if I move my eyes during the operation?
It is quite normal for the patient's eye to make minimal moves. Laser beam system has been designed to detect these minimal moves and to adjust itself accorgingly. In case of maximal moves, since the laser beam cannot follow the operation stops.
What is the success rate in laser operations?
The answer is definetely NOT 100%, because in medical sciences, there is no 100% success.
Can results be guaranteed?
No. There is no such guarantee in medical sciences. Each treatment has its own success rate. Laser treatment has a very high success rate. Not being able to downgrade the dioptry to a desired level is usually the only unsuccessful result of the laser treatment.
Can laser treatment be applied for everyone and all eyes?
Laser treatment can be applied for those patients with myopia of -1 and above; however, for patients with diseases such as;
- diabetes that has harmed the eye
- high intraocular pressure
- keratoconus
laser treatment cannot be applied. Patients with some systemic diseases are also not eligible for laser treatment (e.g., severe arthiritis, severe diabetes, pregnant women)
